Something about this city always gives my tummy butterflies. Being home is so refreshing. Literally. I have to stop and take in the air slowly sometimes. More to come on my stateside guilty pleasures soon.

Date with Mama

This post is dedicated to my awesome possum maman. If only we could have lunch dates every week.

One of my last days in Denver this past spring, my mom and I went on a little lunch date at Vert Kitchen, that my best friend had recommended. What a magical little place. It’s the sort of thing I dream of sometimes on the weekends while living so far away. A little stroll on Pearl Street… the view of the Rockies on the horizon…

What is better than not only hanging out with your mom, but having blueberry lemonade and a delicious little club & soup?!?

Have a wonderful weekend, wherever you are!

…Sweet Home

Denver skyline, Home, Rocky Mountains

Oh, Denver. You’ll always be my home. I think about how pretty and full of life you are sometimes, and also about how little I know you. I look forward to coming back and discovering more of your treasures and your urban spunk.

Do you have more than one home? I feel like it’s something that is so common nowadays. Or maybe I’m just now realizing it while experiencing such a thing. We are global citizens at times, instead of belonging to one single place. It’s so exciting.

The Denver Highlands : Colorful This + That

The Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, DenverThe Highlands, Denver

One of Denver’s most colorful and trendy neighborhoods is waiting for you, right northwest of the city center! Have you been?

This is a neighborhood that has gotten quite big and hip since I moved to Franceland, and while I was back in May, I was so happy to have wandered it with two of my favourite people. The Highlands neighborhoods (Highlands and West Highlands) are located just northwest of downtown Denver. It is known by many for its little colorful houses painted ever so intricately with adorable front lawns, and of course now for it’s trendy vibes and shops and businesses. With a view of downtown Denver and the Millenium bridge, it is the perfect place to go for a stroll right outside the city center where you can feast your eyes.

Allie and Jay (aren’t they just the cutest?) took me to brunch at Duo before we wandered and took a million pictures, ending our afternoon with a cone at Little Man Ice Cream, right under the lights and gigantic windows of Linger. It really was a lovely afternoon.

You can check out their post on this day right here.

Not only is it an adorable area to stroll through, but a wonderful place to find trinkets and eat delicious things.

Linger + Little Man with Liz

One night in Denver, Liz took me to one of her favorite restaurants: Linger, which ever so cleverly was transformed from the Olinger Mortuaries. This place is the cat’s pajamas and was absolutely delicious. They serve tapas from all different cultures, delicious cocktails and some of the best local beers on tap.

After dinner we stopped by Little Man Ice Cream for a scoop.

Come back soon for a post on all of my favorite places in the Highlands.

Denver Hoods: South Broadway

South Broadway has always been one of my favorite places to drive around in Denver. The street goes clear from downtown Denver’s Capital Hill all the way to the ‘burbs of Littleton. Liz and Rachel caught me up on what I had missed as new places and eateries are popping up left and right, and of course some of my favorite old places to stop by are still there and were in need of a visit. Gosh this part of town is just so wonderful. All of the signs are divine and the colors are perfection. It’s spunky, fun and filled with adorable shops. Complete candy for the whimsical eyes.

Some of my favorite parts of South Broadway:

Beatrice & Woodsley – Bar/Restaurant

El Diablo – Mexican Restaurant/Bar

Fancy Tiger – Fabric Shop + Vintage Shop

The Hornet – Bar/Restaurant

The Mayan – Movie Theatre

Sputnik – Bar/Restaurant/Photobooth

Starlet – Women’s Whimsicle Fashion Boutique

Sweet Action – Ice Cream Parlour
